About Me
Hello, I’m Mary Mangos — an expressive and With a background as a psychologist, I’ve long been fascinated by the relationship between colour, creativity and the human experience. In recent years, art became central to my life and practice, offering a space for reflection, recalibration and renewed purpose during a period of profound personal change.
Working primarily with acrylics, I create layered abstract works that blend flowing movement, textured surfaces, and luminous metallic accents.
My practice is deeply inspired by nature — from spring blossoms and coastal sunsets to the quieter rhythms of seasonal transition. Through colour and gesture, I aim to create work that brings a sense of serenity, vitality and connection into the spaces it inhabits.
My work has been exhibited in multiple Australian exhibitions, including the Camberwell Art Show, Whitehorse Art Show, and the Feel Good Art Prize, where several pieces have been selected as finalists and featured works.
I am also currently completing the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) In the Studio: Post-War Abstract Painting course, which continues to inform and deepen my engagement with abstraction, colour, and expressive mark-making.
Art, for me, is more than expression — it is a way of listening, integrating and responding through colour.
